The best JoinBrands alternatives for UGC creators are Billo, Insense and Jem Social. Billo and Insense are job marketplaces where brands hire you for UGC videos, and Jem Social adds a public board of paid and gifted campaigns plus an optional tool for pitching brands yourself.
This guide is for UGC creators who already use JoinBrands, or are weighing it, and want to compare requirements, cost and payouts before picking a second platform. Every platform fact below comes from that platform's own creator pages, opened in October 2026. Rules change, so check the source before you sign up.
What JoinBrands offers creators
JoinBrands is a marketplace where brands post jobs and creators apply. Its creator page says you can book jobs, make photos and videos, and get paid through PayPal. It also lists "from" rates of $100+ per social post, $60+ per video and $15+ per image, as of October 2026.
Those are starting rates the platform advertises, not a promise of what you will earn. Use them as a floor when you compare other options, and work out your own numbers with the UGC rate card generator.
Why creators look for JoinBrands alternatives
Most creators add a second platform for three reasons.
- More job volume. Each marketplace has its own brands. Applying in two places gives you more shots at being picked.
- Different pay rules. JoinBrands states a fixed pricing policy, so you do not negotiate rates there. Other platforms let you set or negotiate your price.
- Location. Each platform limits which countries it accepts creators from.
None of these means JoinBrands is a bad choice. They mean one platform rarely fills a calendar by itself.
How to compare UGC platforms as a creator
Check four things before you spend time on a profile.
- Who it is for. Does it want beginners, or creators with a track record?
- Cost to you. Is it free to browse and apply, or is there a subscription?
- Follower requirement. Some platforms need none. Some set a minimum.
- How you get paid. Look for how and when money reaches you, and whether payment is held until you deliver.
The platform sections below use those same four lead-ins so you can scan them side by side.
JoinBrands, Billo, Insense and Jem Social compared
JoinBrands (baseline)
- Who it's for: Creators who want to be hired for photo and video jobs. Its creator page says you need the skills to produce high-quality videos, and a TikTok, Instagram, YouTube or Amazon account is a plus.
- Cost to creators: The sign-up button reads "Get started - it's free." A subscription fee is not published on the creator page, as of October 2026.
- Follower requirement: Not published. You must be 18 or older and live in the USA, UK, Germany, Australia or Canada.
- How you get paid: Once content is approved, the payout goes into a virtual wallet, and you transfer it to PayPal.
Billo
- Who it's for: Beginners as well as experienced UGC creators. The Billo creator page says no professional experience or social media presence is required.
- Cost to creators: Free to download, and no monthly membership is needed to browse offers and apply, as of October 2026.
- Follower requirement: None. You must be 18 or older and live in the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom.
- How you get paid: Earnings are credited after your video is approved, and payments go out twice a month through PayPal. Billo also lists optional paid add-ons, such as posting to your own TikTok or Instagram.
Insense
- Who it's for: Creators who can show a portfolio of UGC videos and speak well on camera. The Insense creator page lists campaign types from UGC without posting to gifting, affiliate and TikTok Shop.
- Cost to creators: Not published on the creator page, as of October 2026.
- Follower requirement: Yes. The page lists a minimum of 1,000 Instagram followers or 500 median TikTok views, with at least 1% engagement.
- How you get paid: You can negotiate your price with brands. Once you are hired, the payment is frozen on Insense until the brand approves your content, then it moves to your Insense wallet.
Jem Social
- Who it's for: UGC creators, influencers and brand ambassadors who want to browse paid and gifted campaigns on the public Opportunity Board and, if they choose, pitch brands directly.
- Cost to creators: Creating a profile is free. The optional Brand Pitch Tool is $20/mo and adds access to 30,000+ brand contacts, AI-written personalized pitches and automatic follow-ups, as of October 2026.
- Follower requirement: Each listing states its own minimum follower range, so it varies by campaign.
- How you get paid: Jem's creator page says deals booked on Jem run through escrow.
Which platform fits which creator
Match the platform to where you are right now.
- Brand new, no audience: Billo lists no social media presence as a requirement. Insense does not suit you yet, since it sets a minimum. JoinBrands does not publish a follower minimum.
- Have a portfolio and want to set your price: Insense says you can negotiate pricing with brands.
- Want to find brands yourself: The Jem Brand Pitch Tool is built for that. Marketplaces wait for brands to post. Pitching goes to brands before they post.
- Outside the US, UK and Canada: Check each country list first. JoinBrands also accepts Germany and Australia, and Insense lists many more countries.
How to use more than one platform without burning out
Keep it simple.
- Pick two marketplaces and one pitching channel.
- Build one portfolio of short sample videos and reuse it everywhere. Our media kit page shows how to package it.
- Apply to a set number of jobs a week, and track which ones reply.
- Drop the platform that gives you the least return after a month.

Questions to ask before you accept a job
A platform handles payment and contracts, but you still decide which jobs are worth your time. Read the brief and answer these first.
- What are the deliverables? Count the videos, photos, edits and revisions the brief asks for.
- Do I post it, or does the brand? Posting on your own account is extra work and exposes your audience to the brand, so it usually deserves a higher price.
- How will the brand use it? Content used in paid ads is worth more than content that sits on a product page. Ask about usage rights and how long they last.
- What do I have to buy or ship? Some jobs reimburse you for a product, and others send it free. Know which before you commit.
- When do I get paid? Find the payout schedule, and check whether money is held until the brand approves.
Price your work before you apply
Platforms that set fixed rates leave less room to negotiate, and platforms that let you name a price assume you know your number. Work it out first. Here is a simple example, with made-up numbers for illustration only. If a video takes you 4 hours to script, film and edit, and you want to earn $30 an hour, your floor is $120 before usage rights. A platform job that pays less than that is a decision to make on purpose, for example to build a portfolio.
The UGC rate card generator turns your deliverables into a rate card you can reuse on every platform.
Disclose paid and gifted content
Whichever platform you use, disclose any paid or gifted relationship when you post. The FTC explains what counts and how to word it in its Disclosures 101 for social media influencers. Read each brief for any extra disclosure rules the brand sets.
