Five UGC formats and when to use each.

Each format tells the story a different way. Match it to where your buyer is: unaware of the problem, comparing options, or ready to try.

Problem → solution

Opens on a pain your buyer knows, then shows the product fixing it. The default for products that solve one clear problem.

Honest review

A creator's real take, including one small honest note. Builds trust with people already comparing options.

Unboxing

First impressions on camera. Works for products with great packaging or a satisfying first use.

Day in the life

The product shows up naturally in a real routine. Feels least like an ad, so it suits awareness.

3 reasons

A fast list that is easy to follow and easy to save. Good for products with several benefits.

How to write a UGC script that converts

A UGC script is a guide for a creator, not lines to read word for word. The best ones give the creator a clear hook, one message and a few shots to hit, then let them say it their own way.

  • Win the first two seconds. Put the hook in the first line and show the product or the creator's face straight away. Most viewers decide whether to keep watching almost immediately.
  • Say one thing. Pick the single benefit your buyer cares about most. A script that lists five features usually lands none of them.
  • Show, then tell. Every line of voiceover needs a shot to go with it: the product in use, the before, the reaction.
  • Leave room for the creator. Mark the parts they should say in their own words. Natural delivery is what makes UGC feel different from a polished ad.
  • End with one clear action. Link, code or download, not all three.
  • Disclose the partnership. Paid creator content needs #ad or the platform's paid partnership label.

How long should a UGC video be?

Fifteen seconds suits a single hook and one benefit, often for ads. Thirty seconds is the safe middle: room for a problem, a demo and a call to action. Sixty seconds works for reviews and day-in-the-life videos where the story carries the viewer. As a rough guide, creators speak about two to three words per second.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is a UGC script?
A UGC script is a short plan for a creator-made video: the hook, what to say, what to film and the call to action, usually with rough timings. It keeps the video on message while leaving the creator room to talk naturally.
How does the UGC script generator work?
Enter your product, the problem it solves, the main benefit and who it's for, then pick a format, length, platform and goal. The generator fills a proven structure for that format with your details and gives you three hooks, a timed shot list, a caption and creator notes. It runs in your browser, so nothing you type is stored.
Should creators read the script word for word?
No. Share it as a guide. Lines in [brackets] are for the creator to fill in with their own experience, and the rest should be said in their own words. Word-for-word reading is the fastest way to make UGC look like an ad.
How long should a UGC video be?
Fifteen seconds for one hook and one benefit, thirty seconds for most product videos, and sixty seconds for reviews and day-in-the-life stories. Creators speak about two to three words per second, so a 30-second script is roughly 60 to 80 words.
Do UGC videos need an #ad disclosure?
If the creator is paid or gets free product, yes. In the US the FTC expects a clear disclosure such as #ad or the platform's paid partnership label. Every script from this tool reminds the creator to add one.
How do I find creators to film my script?
Post it as a brief on Jem Social and invite creators who fit, or search Jem's creator database by niche, location, followers and engagement rate. Payment is held in escrow until you approve the video. Post a brief free.
