The best UGC platform for your brand depends on how you want to find creators and how much you want to pay in fees. Collabstr, Insense and JoinBrands each charge a platform fee on top of what you pay creators, and Jem lets you post a brief for free and see every creator who applies.
This guide is for brands, founders and marketers who need UGC creators and are choosing where to find them. It compares four platforms on the same four points, using facts from each company's own website as of October 2026. Prices change, so check each pricing page before you commit.
What is a UGC platform?
A UGC platform is a marketplace or tool that connects brands with creators who make content for them, usually short videos or photos you can use in ads and on your site. Most handle three jobs: finding creators, agreeing on the work, and paying creators safely.
Platforms differ in how you find creators. Some let you search and hire one by one. Others let you post a brief and wait for applications. A few do both. They also differ in how they make money: a monthly subscription, a percentage fee on creator payments, or both.
How to choose a UGC platform
Start with four questions. Your answers matter more than any ranking.
- How will you find creators? Searching gives you control. Posting a brief saves time because creators come to you.
- What is the total cost? Add the subscription, the platform fee and the creator payment. A low monthly price can still carry a large percentage fee.
- Who owns the content? Check the usage rights you get and whether you can run the content as ads.
- How do you pay? Escrow or held payments protect you if the content never arrives.

- How you pay creators: The paid plan includes contracts with usage rights and escrow payments that release after you approve the content. Jem says it takes no cut of what you pay creators.
Jem is not built around managed production or a done-for-you service. It fits brands that want to run their own creator selection.
Which platform fits which brand
Use these rules as a starting point.
- You want to test UGC with no commitment: Post a free brief on Jem, or use the free plans at Collabstr or JoinBrands and pay per order.
- You run paid social: Look closely at Insense and JoinBrands, which both describe Meta and TikTok ad code sharing.
- You want to browse and hire one by one: Collabstr is built for that on every plan.
- You want creators to apply to you: Jem and Insense are built around briefs. Collabstr campaigns need a paid plan.
Work out the real cost before you commit
Do the math on a small example. Say you want 10 videos at $50 each. That is $500 in creator payments. A 10% platform fee adds $50, and a 15% fee adds $75. Add any monthly subscription on top. The same videos can cost you different totals on different platforms, so run your own numbers with the influencer rate calculator. This example uses made-up prices to show the method and is not a quote from any platform.
Also ask what is not included. Several platforms say creator payments are separate from the subscription. Others add fees on the creator side.
Brief creators well and disclose paid content
A platform finds you creators. A good brief gets you usable content. Say what the product is, the one message that matters, the format, the length and the deadline. The campaign brief generator and our guide on how to write a UGC brief walk through it.
If creators post the content on their own accounts, they need to disclose the paid relationship. Read the FTC's Disclosures 101 for social media influencers and tell creators what you expect.
Post your first brief this week
Pick one product, write one line about what you need, and let creators come to you. You can compare the applicants before you spend anything. Post a free brief on Jem, where posting is free and Jem's AI writes it from one line in about 4 minutes.
