About this opportunity

The Festival Ambassador program is a specialized track focused on the live execution and community impact of the nation’s largest annual cultural celebration. Based locally in New Orleans, these ambassadors serve as the on-ground heartbeat of the Essence Festival of Culture. This role emphasizes experiential production, guest relations, and large-scale logistics, providing students with a front-row seat to how a world-class event is produced. Ambassadors work to bridge the gap between the brand and the local community, ensuring that the festival’s message of empowerment is felt throughout the Crescent City. This pathway is perfect for high-energy individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are passionate about live event production and local engagement. Deadline is Friday, June 12. Core Responsibilities As an Ambassador, you aren't just a volunteer; you are a vital extension of the production team. Your duties will include: Experiential On-Site Support: Assist in the management of high-traffic activations, ensuring that sponsor exhibits and brand experiences run seamlessly. Community Liaison: Serve as a knowledgeable guide for both locals and tourists, translating the festival’s mission into meaningful person-to-person interactions. Logistical Navigation: Support the "behind-the-scenes" flow, from talent movement to crowd management, across major venues like the Caesars Superdome and the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. Brand Advocacy: Act as a digital and physical storyteller, capturing the energy of the festival and sharing it through community-focused lenses. Requirements & Qualifications We are looking for the next generation of New Orleans leaders who are ready to put their local pride into action. Academic Standing: Current college junior or senior status at an accredited four-year university. Local Roots: Must be a local resident of the New Orleans, Louisiana region with a deep understanding of the local cultural landscape and community dynamics. Relevant Experience: Prior experience in event production, hospitality, or large-scale logistics is considered a significant plus. Soft Skills: High energy and the ability to remain adaptable in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Guest-First Mindset: A genuine passion for community engagement and delivering an unparalleled guest experience. Mandatory Availability: Full availability to work on-site during the Fourth of July weekend. Complete the form below to apply as a candidate. Please provide accurate and up-to-date information.
